The Seder Meal Each year all the families in our Parish Religion program have a wonderful experience. The Director of our program invites a Rabbi from our town to visit with the families and the children. The Rabbi explains the Jewish Seder to us. He tells us the story of the Passover and describes the meal eaten by the Israelites on their Exodus from Egypt. He then tells us about the Seder meal that Jewish families celebrate each Passover. Many of the families re-enact this meal at home. They read the story of the Passover from the book of Exodus chapter 12. They break unleavened bread (matzos) and share wine (grape juice). Some of the children see the connection to the story of Jesus and the Last Supper. Others need some explanation. But it is a wonderful lesson.
