Pancakes for Jesus I have tried to raise my children as I was raised. My father had an unshakable belief in God. As children, we would all kneel together and pray as a family every night before going to bed. My father was ahead of the times. Years ago, when men did not do such things, my father helped with the cooking and washing the dishes. I especially remember Sunday mornings. Dad was in charge of breakfasts. He usually made pancakes and sausages. He used to make us laugh by forming the pancakes in the shape of the initial of our first name. What happy memories I have of meals shared together and long talks on the front porch. Times have changed a great deal. But my husband and I both believe strongly in our Catholic Faith. We make sure that we spend time with our children Jennifer and Anthony. I even make pancakes on Sunday morning. And yes, I make them in the shape of a J and an A for Jennifer and Anthony. And J is for Jesus. It seems that when Anthony was in the first year of our parish religion program he learned how to spell the name of Jesus. One Sunday when I proudly displayed JenniferŐs pancake and asked, "And J is for É.." Anthony yelled, "J is for Jesus. " ever since then we have pancakes for Jesus on Sunday.
