The Teachings of Vatican II
I was born during the Second Vatican Council (1962-65). So when my son showed me his Faith Alive at Home page this week, I was shocked to see the words, "Vatican Council." In my son's book it said, "The Second Vatican Council teaches us that the Bible is the Word of God in human language." Human language is very important in our home. My son is hearing-impaired. Although Bobby can read lips well and knows both Braille and sign, human language is often very challenging to him. When we both had read the paragraph about God speaking in human language, Bobby and I had one of our best conversations ever about being hearing-impaired. We did the following Bible prayer service.

Bible Prayer Service
O God, we will place your Bible in this special place of honor. Praise is to God, the living word.

O, God we will listen to your holy word from the Bible. Praise is to God.

God, your word is a lamp to guide me and a light for my path. (Psalms 119:105)
