Family Faith

Summer Bible Time
Now that school is over and summer is here I often feel that my family is busier than ever. My son and daughter both go to basketball camp. There are outings and trips and picnics. Some times I feel that we all need to slow down and make some special time for God.

I started "Summer Bible time." My son and daughter and I read the Bible together. We talk about different people in the Bible and re-enact the Bible stories. My son had great fun dressing up as Noah and bringing "the animals" on board the Ark! Actually, the animals were our two cats and our dog.

Once a week we draw a family mural depicting some scene from the Bible. I find that my children (and myself) are becoming very knowledgeable about the Bible.

This is a story that we really enjoyed illustrating. Try reading the story to your family. Then place a large piece of paper and crayons on the table and let your imagination take over.

When Jesus raised his eyes and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, he said to Philip, "Where can we buy enough food for them to eat?" ...One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter said to him, "There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what good are these for so many?" Jesus said, "Have the people recline." There were thousands of people. Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks and distributed them to the people. The people ate until they were filled. When they collected what had not been eaten, they found that they had twelve baskets of leftovers. (From John 6:5-13.)

People and things to draw and color!
