Family Faith

Caring for Each Other
The four of us in our family regularly participate in the Faith Alive at Home exercises. In the Coming to God book that our son in first grade uses the activity we all enjoyed doing was making a flower out of a paper plate.

The directions said to decorate the rim of the plate by using crayons or magic markers. In the center we were asked to either draw a picture of ourselves or to paste a photograph of ourselves.

Then we were asked to talk about how we care for each other It was delightful to see the beautiful expressions in my son's and fourth grade daughter's eyes as they interpreted what it means for them to care for each other.

That discussion led to us talking about how we, as a family, could care for those less fortunate than us.

For many years my husband and I have contributed to the Catholic Relief Services.

We showed the site to our children and together talked about how we could set aside some money each week. We have decided that at special times we will send this money to Catholic Relief Services.

We ended this Faith Alive at Home activity by singing the song below from my son's religion book. It is sung to the tune of "Are you sleeping?"

God's Life
Who has God's Life?
We have God's Life!
Yes we do! Yes we do!
Thank you God for your life!
Thank you God for your life!
We love you. We love you.
