Spirituality Resources
To Parents and Catechists: This prayer service that focuses on Jesus as the light of our lives will help six to eight-year-olds continue in the true spirit of Christmas. Use a flashlight to represent the torch.

We Celebrate the Epiphany

Leader:
Let us gather near the stable and pray to Jesus, the Light of our world.

Sing: (to the tune of "Jingle Bells")
Guiding star, guiding star,
Guide us through the night.
We rejoice for who we are.
Jesus is our Light.

Listen to God's Word
Reader:
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. They lived in a land of shadows, but now light is shining on them.
From Isaiah 9:2

Pray
Group 1:
We are like the three wise men who followed the star to find you.

All: Jesus, you are our Light. (Hold your star above your head.)

Group 2: We are like the three wise men who praise and honor you as our Savior.

All: Jesus, you are our Light.
Sing "Guiding star..."

Listen to God's Word
Reader: You are like light for the whole world. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a bowl. He puts it on the lampstand, where it gives light for everyone. From Matthew 5:14, 15

Leader: Let us stand in a circle. As you sing each line of the song, pass your torch to the person on your right.

Sing: (To the tune of "Jingle Bells")
Pass the torch, pass the torch,
All share in the light.
We will pray and sing today,
Jesus, be our Light.

My Prayer Goes On
Leader: Read the name on the torch you are holding. Keep the torch in a special place to remind you to pray for this person during the coming week.

Jesus, be a light for _________________________
