Weekly Lenten Meditations

1. Streams of water flow-through the desert; the burning sand will become a lake, and dry land will be filled with springs. From Isaiah 35:6, 7

Imagine that this week you are traveling in the desert. Jesus, you guide me in my daily work . . .

2. God says, "I will bring my people back to me. I will love them with all my heart. I will be like rain in a dry land." From Hosea 14:4, 5

Imagine that you feel the soft gentle rain falling after a hot, dry day. Jesus, you refresh my life when I feel tired . . .

3.
When my people in their need look for water, when their throats are dry with thirst, then I, the Lord, will answer their prayer; I will never abandon them. From Isaiah 41:17

Imagine you are sitting near the bank of a river or lake. Think of the peaceful movement of the water. Jesus, you bring me peace . . .

4.
Jesus said to the woman, "The water that I will give will become in you a spring and will provide you with life giving water and give you eternal life." From John 4:14

Imagine you are standing under a cascade of water on a hot day. Think about how the water gives energy and life. Jesus, you give me life through the sacrament of Baptism . . .

5.
Jesus, give me that water! Then I will never be thirsty again, nor will I have to go to the well to draw water. From John 4:15

Imagine you are swimming under water. Think about all the signs of life you see. Jesus, thank you for being my constant source of strength and support, especially in the sacrament of the Eucharist . . .

6.
Jesus says, "You can be sure that whoever gives even a drink of cold water to one of the least of these my followers because he is my follower, will certainly receive a reward." From Matthew 10:42 6.

Pour a drop of water Into a large container. As you watch the rippling effect, pray quietly. Talk to Jesus about how you can be like the rippling water and spread Jesus' message to others.
