| To Parents and Catechists: This service calls us to look at the saints around us. The youngsters are invited to write Thank You notes to some of them. | Serving Others Gladly: Saint Frances of Rome Saint Frances of Rome was a devoted wife and mother, who cared deeply about all the people in her community. She helped the poor and worked everyday as a volunteer in the hospital, caring for the most seriously ill. Even when her family lost almost everything they had, Frances continued to share with those less fortunate than she was as well as care for her own family. Listen to God's Word How wonderful it is, how pleasant, for God's people to live together in harmony!
Psalm 133:1
Reaching Out to Care Many people in our community are like Saint Frances. In spite of their own problems, they volunteer to serve the sick, the homeless, the hungry, and the helpless. Let us pray for these heroes who help us live together in harmony: May the Lord bless you for the work you do. May the Lord encourage you when you feel tired or want to give up. May the Lord reward you for serving others gladly. Listen to God's Word
Jesus says, "When you give to a person in need, do not make a big show
of it. Your father who sees what you do in private, will reward you."
From Matthew 6:2, 4
Pray for a Giving Spirit Look at each picture. Thank Jesus for those who have giving spirits. Pray these words. Jesus, help me to grow into the real spirit of caring and sharing with others as this person is doing. The only reward I ask is to know that you love me. My Prayer Goes On Cut out the card. Enclose it with a thank-you note to a caring person in your community. That person might be in your family, neighborhood, school, parish, or community center. Give or send the note to that person. Remember to pray for him or her. www.sadlier.com/main.htm Copyright © 2004 William H. Sadlier, Inc. All rights reserved. |
