To Parents and Catechists: Another way to celebrate Lent is to make a growing tree. You will need a tree branch and patterns and leaves.

We Grow in Lent

Listen to God's Word
Jesus says, "If you want to grow as my disciples, love one another, just as I love you." From John 15:8, 12

Quiet Prayer
During Lent we take quiet time to remember that we are growing in Jesus' love.

Be very quiet. Imagine Jesus is with you in an indoor garden. Tell him how you feel about growing in friendship with him.

Listen to God's Word
Jesus says, "I am the vine, and you are the branches. I am part of you, and you are part of me. If you stay joined to me, you will grow in love and do wonderful things." From John 15:5

My Prayer Goes On
Make a growing tree for Lent.

1. Find a large tree branch.

2. Stand the branch in a large can filled with sand or dirt.

3. Use the leaf on this page as a pattern to trace other leaves, or design your own.

4. Each day of Lent add a leaf to the tree. Write on the leaf one thing you did to show that you are growing as a disciple of Jesus. (pray, do extra chores, be nice to a friend, tell someone, "I love you"...)
