We Remember Jesus' Love: Easter Triduum
Getting Ready to Pray
Triduum means three days of prayer before a great celebration. During the three days of the Easter Triduum, we pray and remember all that Jesus has done for us. Set up three prayer stations.
- On table 1, place bread and wine near a bible.
- On table 2, place twigs and twine.
- On table 3, place a small bowl of holy water.
Pray on Holy Thursday
(Process to the first station)
On Holy Thursday evening we remember that Jesus gives us the gift of himself in the Eucharist.
Leader: On the night before he died, Jesus ate a special meal with his friends.
Reader: Jesus said, "I have wanted so much to eat this meal with you."
All: "It is good to be here!"
Reader: Jesus took bread and wine. He blessed them and said, "Take this bread and eat it. This is my body. Take this cup and drink from it. This is my blood. Do this in memory of me."
All: Thank you, Jesus, for giving us the gift of yourself in the Eucharist. Be with us and feed us with your love. From Luke 22:14-20
Pray on Good Friday
(Process to the second station.)
On Good Friday we remember that Jesus gave his life so that we could be happy with him forever. (Now take two twigs and secure them with twine to make a cross.)
Leader: Standing close to Jesus' cross were Mary, his Mother, and his good friend, John.
Reader: Before he died, Jesus said, "I promise that you will be with me in my Father's kingdom."
All: Thank you, Jesus, for loving us so much. We will be your followers forever. From Luke 23:43
Pray on the Easter Vigil
(Process to the third station.)
On Holy Saturday water is blessed, people are baptized, and we renew our baptismal promises.
Leader: Do you believe in God the Creator, in Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Spirit?
All: We do believe!
Leader: Come forward and bless yourself with the holy water as a sign of your new life through Jesus.
All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. (Bless yourself with holy water.)

Jesus, you died for me. Jesus, you rose for me. Jesus, you give me new life.
