Long ago, in the small Italian town of Siena, God was preparing a young woman to do extraordinary things. Her name was Catherine. She was eager to listen for God's Spirit within her. Because of this, she grew in great wisdom and holiness. Catherine had a talent for sorting out the truth and healing rifts. Families and great leaders, including the pope, called on her to help them end conflicts and be reconciled. Catherine, the great peacemaker, worked hard to bring peace to others, even at the risk of her own life. The Church so respected Catherine that she became the first woman to be honored with the title Doctor of the Church. Listen to God's Word Praying for Peace Are you struggling to be at peace with someone? Do you know people who need God's peace in their lives or who need to be reconciled with others? Bring these struggles to God right now in prayer. Trust God to help you find a way to restore peace. Listen to God's Word Creating a Peace Symbol Now picture a symbol that will remind you to pray for peace within yourself and others. Sketch your symbol here. Then create your symbol of peace, using lightweight wire, pipe cleaners, or cardboard.
When you have finished, hold your peace symbol or place it where it can be seen. Focus on the symbol. Then listen as God invites you, like Catherine, to be a courageous peacemaker. My Prayer Goes On
