| To Parents and Catechists: This experience guides the young people to quietly celebrate through story and prayer, the humility of Saint Joseph the Worker. | Honoring Saint Joseph, the Worker Listen to God's Word Be humble in everything you do. The greater you become the more humble you should
be. God is honored by those who are humble. From Sirach
2:17
Remember these words as you read the story of Saint Joseph. Saint Joseph, the Worker God chose Joseph, a good and just man, to be the foster father of Jesus. Joseph was poor and had to work hard to protect and take care of Jesus and Mary. He supported his family by working as a carpenter. Joseph guided Jesus while He was growing up. Joseph showed to others the value of honest and hard work. We know little about Joseph's life. However, we believe that Joseph was a great man in God's eyes. Jesus and Mary must have loved him dearly. Each year on May 1, we honor him for quietly and humbly doing his work well. We pray. Saint Joseph, help me to go quietly about my work. Help me praise and honor God in all I do. Listen and Respond to God's Word
Jesus says, "Happy are those who are humble. They will receive what God
has promised! Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God
wants of them. God will satisfy them fully!" From Matthew
5:5-6
Jesus, whatever I do, I do it in your name. Whatever work I do, I do it with my whole heart, I will always remember... My Prayer Goes On Right now, your work is to be a good family member, a good student, a good friend, and a good neighbor. As you do your work well, remember to pray: Jesus, bless the work I do... www.sadlier.com/main.htm Copyright © 2004 William H. Sadlier, Inc. All rights reserved. |
