Waiting for Pentecost

Listen to God's Word
After Jesus rose from the dead, he appeared to his disciples. Jesus said to them, "I will send upon you what my Father has promised. But you must wait in the city until the power from above comes down upon you." From Luke 24:49

Getting in the Spirit
Prepare yourself to celebrate the feast of Pentecost by making a prayer novena. On the nine days before Pentecost, set aside time for prayer. Each day, ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen in you one special power that will help you live as a follower of Jesus.

Come Holy Spirit
On each day pray, "Holy Spirit, energize me with the power of..."

Day 1: Friday "LOVE"

Day 2: Saturday "JOY"

Day 3: Sunday "PEACE"

Day 4: Monday "PATIENCE"

Day 5: Tuesday "KINDNESS"

Day 6: Wednesday "GOODNESS"

Day 7: Thursday "LOYALTY"

Day 8: Friday "HUMILITY"

Day 9: Saturday "SELF-CONTROL"

Pentecost Sunday: "CELEBRATE THE SPIRIT!"

My Prayer Goes On
During the celebration of Mass on Pentecost Sunday, pray in your heart: Holy Spirit, thank you for energizing me with the power to live as a follower of Jesus, our Risen Lord.
