To Parents and Catechists: This experience invites the youngsters to pray to the Holy Spirit for the special gifts they need to help them grow in love for God and others. Use rhythm instruments for the song—if you have them. Remind them that "Alleluia" is an ancient word that carries meanings of joy, celebration—even "hooray!"

We Celebrate Pentecost

Listen to God's Word
On the day of Pentecost the disciples of Jesus were gathered together in a room. Suddenly they heard the sound of a strong wind blowing. Then they saw what looked like tongues of fire, which touched each one of them. They were filled with the Holy Spirit. Right away, the disciples left the room and went out to share their faith in Jesus with others. From Acts 2:1-4, 14

Sing
(To the tune of "Michael, Row the Boat")

The Spirit came on Pentecost, Alleluia!
The Spirit brings us special gifts, Alleluia!
The Spirit came on Pentecost, Alleluia!
The Spirit fills us all with life. Alleluia

Listen!
You will receive God's gift, the Holy Spirit! From Acts 2:38

Listen!
There are different gifts but the same Spirit. From 1 Corinthians 12:4

Rejoice in Your Gifts
The Spirit of God fills us with many gifts. Among these gifts are...

the gift of faith in God,
the gift to stand up for what we believe,
the gift to make good choices,
the gift to learn more about our faith,
the gift to help others grow in faith.

My Prayer Goes On
Ask the Holy Spirit for two special gifts you know you need to grow in love for God and others. Write these gifts on the flames. Then cut out the flames. Fold on the line. Glue the flames to the logs so they stand up.
