| To
Parents and Catechists: This service invites the youngsters to a simple,
comfortable, quiet sharing of the joys of Pentecost. It gives them
a taste of meditation as well as some time to join with others in
prayer to the Holy Spirit. |
Fill
with the Holy SpiritPentecost
Pentecost is here,
our fiftieth day of celebrating Easter. The Holy Spirit is with us to
guide our lives and give us the courage to make our hopes and dreams for
God's kingdom on earth come true.
Listen
to God's Word
I will pour out my spirit on everyone. Your sons and daughters will proclaim
my message. Your old people will dream dreams, and your young people will
have visions. From Joel 2:28
My
Dreams for God's Kingdom
Get in a comfortable position. Breathe deeply and quietly. Then dream
a bit, taking time with each of these questions.
What are your hopes
and dreams for yourself? for your family and friends? for the world in
which you live? What can you do to help others' dreams and visions for
building God's kingdom of love, peace, and justice in the world?
Listen
to God's Word
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship
of the Holy Spirit be with you all! From 2 Corinthians
13:13
A
Pentecost Prayer of Blessing
Filled with the Holy Spirit, you can help make your hopes and dreams for
yourself and others come true.
Gather together for
prayer. After a brief period of quiet, greet each other with the Scripture
words above. These words remind us that the Spirit binds us together in
love for God and for one another. Now form a prayer circle. With hands
outstretched in a gesture of blessing pray:
God, the giver of
all life, bless us gathered here. Surround us
with your love. Guide us by the Holy Spirit to dream dreams
and have visions for your kingdom. Give us the courage
we need to be a sign of your powerful love in the world. We
ask this through our risen Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.
My
Prayer Goes On
I will pour out my spirit on everyone.
