To Parents and Catechists: This experience invites the youngsters to celebrate the true meaning of love and happiness that Jesus calls us to live. You might want to have each child replace the word "love" in Saint Paul's message with his/her own name.

Praying With A Happy Heart

Leader: Let us gather to celebrate the true meaning of love and happiness that Jesus calls us to in the Beatitudes.

Reader: Happy are the pure in heart: They will see God! From Matthew 5:8

All: Jesus, help us to be pure in heart. You show us the way to happiness.

Leader: Let us stand and form a heart shape. Sit in a comfortable position. When you hear the word love, tap the floor to indicate the rhythm of a beating heart.

Reader 1: I may be able to speak many languages but if I have no love (beat, BEAT, beat, BEAT) my speech is no more than a noisy gong or a clanging bell.

All: Jesus, fill our hearts with love (beat, BEAT, beat, BEAT).

Reader 2: I may have all the faith to move mountains, but if I have no love (beat, BEAT, beat, BEAT) I am nothing.

All: Jesus, fill our hearts with love (beat, BEAT, beat, BEAT). From 1 Corinthians 13:1, 2

My Prayer Goes On
People all over the world have their own interpretation of the meaning of love. Listen to Saint Paul's interpretation below of what it means to love with a pure heart. Pray these words often from Saint Paul with a happy heart.

Love is patient and kind.
Love is not jealous or conceited.
Love is not selfish or moody.
Love is forgiving and does not hold grudges.
Love is not happy with evil.
Love is happy with the truth.
Love never gives up.
Love is eternal.
From 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
