To Parents and Catechists: This experience invites the children to celebrate the feast of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha in story and prayerful reflection. If you can't pray outdoors then create sensual images of a peaceful forest scene as illustrated. Play a tape or CD of nature sounds.

We Celebrate Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha

Listen to God's Word
God, your never-ending love reaches the heavens. You show your loving care in the sky and all over the earth. From Psalm 57:10, 11

Pray in Your Heart
God, thank you for your never-ending loving care. I am happy knowing that you love me. I love you, too.

A Story of Blessed Kateri
Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha was a Native American. She had great love and respect for nature. While she was growing up, she met some priests. They taught her that God's loving care was all around her. Kateri believed and was baptized. She praised and thanked God for all the signs of his love in the world.

Listen to God's Word
Jesus says,"look at the birds of the air. See how God takes care of them. Look at how the flowers grow. It is God who makes them beautiful. Stop worrying! God will take care of you. Believe and trust in God's love." From Matthew 6:26-33

My Prayer Goes On
Imagine that you are sitting with Kateri in the forest near her home.

What do you see?
What sounds do you hear?
How does the forest floor feel?

Thank God for each sign of his loving care that you see, hear, or touch. Tell God what is in your heart.
