| To Parents and
Catechists: This experience invites the youngsters to prayerfully celebrate God's
never-ending presence and love in their lives. |
Nothing Takes God by
Surprise
Listen to God's Word
God sees the whole of time, from beginning to end, and nothing takes God by surprise.
Everything made by God is good; God meets every need at the proper time.
Now then, sing praises with all your heart, and praise the name of the
Lord! From Sirach 39:20, 33, 35
In God's Presence
God, you were with me in my past
God, you are with me now.
God, you will be with me always.
Sing to the tune of
"I've Been Working on the Railroad."
God, your love is never-ending;
you calm all my fears.
Jesus always will protect me,
each season of the year.
God, how very much I love you,
and I know how much you love me, too.
I will share your love with others,
this I do for you.
*Spirit, help me grow,
Spirit, help me know
All about God's love for me-e-e. (*repeat)
Listen to God's Word
John the Baptist's father, Zechariah, was filled with the Holy Spirit,
and he spoke God's message: Let us praise the God of our people! God has
come to us and has set us free. God promised to rescue us and allow us
to serve without fear so that we might be holy and good all the days of
our life. God will send us Jesus to guide our steps into the path of peace.
From Luke 1:68, 74, 78, 79
Respond to God's Word
- Plan a special family get-together, like a
picnic. Ask everyone present to join hands and hold their faces up to the sun as you pray
this blessing:
May God bless us and take care of us;
May God be kind and gracious to us;
May God look on us with favor and give us peace,
Every season, every year. From Numbers 6:24-26
- Say the prayer
on the symbol as an act of faith in God's eternal love. Cut out the
symbol and put it in your journal. Talk with your family about your
family's faith stories.
