| To Parents and Catechists: This is a wonderful prayer experience for a summer day. Have umbrellas on hand to use as props. | God's Loving Shade and Protection Leader: Be still and quiet your mind and heart.
Reader: Listen
and respond to God's Word. God, all who find safety in you will rejoice;
Protect those who love you. From Psalm 5:11
Leader: Imagine you are at the beach or pool and the summer sun is glistening in the sky. You are sitting in the shade of a beach umbrella. Think of how the umbrella shields you from the harmful rays of the sun. Think about how God's love protects you.
All: God, you
give us shelter from storms And shade from the burning heat. From
Isaiah 25:4
Leader: Imagine you are in a sudden rainstorm. Think of how the rain umbrella shields you from the effects of the storm. Think about how God's love shelters you. Write your initials on the card below. From an "Umbrella of God's Love." Cut out the card, attach it to a string, and then attach the string to an open umbrella. As you listen to Jesus' words, imagine you are standing under an enormous umbrella that opens up to protect all of God's people. Reader: Holy Father! Keep them safe by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one just as you and I are one.
All: Jesus
Christ, may I invite others to experience the shade and protection of
God's love. From John 17:11
Leader: Feel God's love surrounding you, giving you shade and protection. Thank God in the quiet of your heart. My Prayer Goes On Read these words when you need to experience comfort and shade in God's love. O, God, your love surrounds me. Your love provides shade and protection.
