To Parents and Catechists: Establish a comfortable joyful setting where the young people will freely participate in the thank-you action prayer. Invite them to imagine that they are celebrating with Jesus while they reflect on the artwork of Jesus at a party.

Our Prayer of Thanks

Listen and Respond to God's Word

Reader: Sing to God with thanksgiving in your hearts. Everything you do or say should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, as you give thanks through him to God the Father. From Colossians 3:16Ð17

All: Sing to the tune of "She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain."

Let us show that we are grateful for God's gifts.
Let us show that we are grateful for God's gifts.
Let us praise our God in heaven.
Let us sing out our thanksgiving.
Let us show that we are grateful for God's gifts.

Leader: Let us each thank God for our favorite gifts. After each person prays, we will all respond with actions.

Each Person: Thank you, God, for ...

All: (Slap your knees twice. Clap your hands twice. Snap your fingers twice.)

Leader: Now that each one of us has prayer, let us sing our song of thanks again.

All: (Sing the song above.)

Leader: God has given us many gifts. The greatest gift is Jesus Christ, God's own Son.

Reader: Out of the fullness of God's love, God has blessed us all, giving us one gift after another. This enduring love has come to us through Jesus Christ. From John 1:16-17

All: Jesus Christ, we praise you.

All: Sing to the tune of "Home on the Range" refrain.

Thanks, thanks to you, God,
For the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ.
His love never ends, so with family and friends,
We give thanks and give praise with our love.
